World Logic: Identity has mass. Sparks are not powers attached to people; they are people made manifest. Conviction, self-understanding, obsession, love, grief, envy, desperation and purpose exert measurable force on reality. Emotional breakthroughs are mechanical breakthroughs. Power growth occurs when characters redefine themselves, reject imposed narratives, embrace hidden truths, or commit fully to a chosen path. Dramatic declarations, naming techniques, rivalries, confessions, vows, betrayals and flashbacks are not stylistic conventions but moments where identity crystallizes and reality responds.
Relationships: Intimacy is the primary antidote to myth. Shinsekai is a world of celebrities, heroes, monsters, idols, S-ranks and living legends; relationships matter because they allow people to be seen as people. Romantic, platonic, familial and sexual bonds all carry comparable narrative weight. Beastfolk cultures normalize physical affection, public devotion and scent-based intimacy, but the emotional core remains recognition: understanding someone beneath their title, reputation, species, Spark or social role. Romance and sexuality may be playful, passionate or explicit, but should always reveal character rather than merely provide gratification.
Combat Style: Fights are arguments expressed through violence. Combat is lethal, tactical and emotionally revealing. Characters enter battle carrying philosophies, fears, loyalties and self-images that become visible through their choices. Techniques, tactics and Spark interactions matter, but battles are ultimately contests between competing identities and priorities. Strategy should emerge naturally through action and dialogue rather than exposition. Explain mechanics only when understanding changes outcomes. Because advanced medicine and Sparks can reverse catastrophic injury, combat culture accepts extraordinary levels of maiming and destruction that would be unthinkable elsewhere; psychological consequences, damaged relationships, broken convictions and Spark-related trauma often carry greater weight than physical wounds.
Myth & Recognition: The exceptional are constantly at risk of becoming symbols. S-ranks become deterrents. Celebrities become brands. Heroes become institutions. Villains become cautionary tales. Society reduces people into stories because stories are easier to understand than people. Characters should frequently struggle against, embrace, exploit or become trapped by the myths surrounding them. The most meaningful relationships are often those that recognize the person beneath the legend.

Treat identity as a physical force and recognition as a human need.

Economic Psyche & Baseline: The world feels post-scarcity yet hyper-commodified. Because all registered Sparked receive an abundant, state-backed monthly stipend, survival anxiety is nonexistent—financial security is an inherent right, not a struggle. Money is an optimization tool for lifestyle, luxury, and social status, never a barrier to staying alive.
The Private Multiplier: Agency contracts typically match a Spark's baseline stipend and multiply it through performance bonuses, letting a C-Rank Agent live like an A-Rank state elite.
The Medical Paywall: While standard public healthcare covers basic illness, high-stakes medical reversals—such as instantly reattaching limbs or violently reversing clinical death after a brutal match—require astronomical credit fees or a premium Agency insurance policy.
The Gray Market Risk: Unlicensed "Gray Agents" operating through independent brokers bypass the registry and forfeit their Kestrel stipends entirely. They trade state-backed safety for pure, untraceable cash, meaning a single catastrophic injury without an Agency safety net can plunge an independent contractor into crushing corporate debt.

Aldshor: Faded industrial power of 35 million on an amber sea. Figurehead margrave, Ambersmith guilds hold real power. Deep galleries now produce amber that hums and answers.
Khemaya: Wealthiest nation on Earth. Pharaonic meritocratic theocracy of 350 million, Pharaoh Netjeryka rules from Suryapura. Naval supremacy, integrated Sparked military, Soraya al-Din refuses to return.
Costa Alba: Coastal nation of 50 million, beauty as state philosophy. Forum governance from Albaluce. No S-ranks, no military—too beautiful to destroy. Borders Novomund, trafficking is a persistent issue.
Sheol: Mobile flotilla nation governed by scientists aboard five flagships. Monitors something alive in the deep called the Pulse. S-rank Soleil Duchamp powers the arrays. Behaves like something sinister and won't explain why it isn't.

An innate ability manifesting in 5% of the population at puberty, representing the individual's absolute inner self.
Tashara Treaty (2001): Mandatory global registration and training framework enforced after the 1999 catastrophe. It mandates academy attendance for newly manifested individuals between ages 16 and 25 (such as Shinsekai's MSI). While state stipends grant baseline luxury and Spark usage itself is legal, all operational outcomes are strictly regulated. Agencies and paramilitary operations function independently of direct government oversight within this legal framework.

Kestrel Scale: Ranks D through S, formally weighting both infrastructure and combat importance. The scale distills four core metrics—Output (strength), Reserves (fuel), Efficiency (burn rate), and Reinforcement (physique)—into a single Overall Grade. Global population counts are strictly limited: there are exactly 18 S-ranks and approximately 200 A-ranks in existence.
Spark Reinforcement: enhances offense & defense. Power scales by rank gap:

• Same rank: clean, impactful exchanges.

• 1 rank lower: uphill fight. Landing real damage takes everything — perfect openings, full commitment, pushing past limits. Possible, but costly. Underdog victories are still possible.

• 2+ ranks lower: attacks simply don't connect with enough force. Defender barely notices.
  Higher ranks dominate proportionally.
  Spark names are proper nouns and are never preceded by pronouns.
