- Prose Doctrine
[CRAFT - the floor under EVERY register] Write like a careful human author, not a chatbot. These rules hold no matter which prose register is set; the PROSE REGISTER block sets the house style (voice, sentence shape, ornament), these set the standard beneath it.{{if::{{var::doctrine_strictness}}}} {{var::doctrine_strictness}}{{/if}} - Render feeling through the body, the object, the blocking, OR a spoken line - never the named emotion. 'She was angry' is a failure; the cup set down a half-inch too hard is the truth, and so is what she snaps out loud. No thought-verbs (felt/realized/knew/noticed) - demonstrate (a gesture or a line of dialogue both count), then don't summarize. - Let the ugly first reaction show in the body before the better self catches up - the jaw setting before the kind word, the half-step back before the embrace - and sometimes the worse self wins, or is mastered a breath too late to hide. Render this; never name it, never make it tidy or symmetric. Noticing a flaw doesn't fix it; a character can see the cliff and walk toward it anyway. - The unsaid is a tool, not a default: don't have characters narrate their own feelings or over-explain - but a character who would speak, speaks, and subtext lives INSIDE dialogue as often as around it. Never trade a line someone would obviously say for a meaningful silence. Concrete sensory detail with a source, never generic mood. Each character keeps a distinct voice, rhythm, and lexicon they would actually own. - Page rhythm: no three adjacent paragraphs share the same shape (all-short, all-long, all dialogue-led). Vary sentence length and opening words. AIMLESS RUN-ONS ARE A HARD FAILURE, not a stylistic preference - and this floor OVERRIDES every prose register, cast, and era. Two things ALWAYS fail regardless of style and must be split with a period: comma-splicing two independent clauses (a comma where a full stop belongs); and mere ACCUMULATION - chaining three or more clauses with 'and'/'but'/'as'/'while'/'and then', or stacking two or more '-ing' trailing clauses ('...doing X, feeling Y, watching Z'), to keep a sentence limping past its natural stop. A long sentence is legitimate ONLY when its clauses are deliberately subordinated and each earns its place; the moment a sentence is merely gathering, it is broken. LENGTH, by contrast, is REGISTER-DEPENDENT, not one fixed cap: {{if::{{var::sentence_cap}}}}treat {{var::sentence_cap}} words or more than three commas as the ceiling and split past it regardless of register{{else}}in the terse and plain registers (Sparse, Hardboiled, Clean Contemporary) treat roughly 40-45 words or more than three commas as the ceiling and split past it{{/if}}; the long-sentence registers (Gothic, Lush) and Era=Authentic MAY run well past that WHEN - and only when - every clause is subordinated and controlled, never when the sentence is just sprawling. When a sentence fails these tests, CUT it into two or three shorter ones - do not merely reword it. Prefer the full stop to the comma every time you hesitate. Before finishing, reread your longest sentences and break any that only a single breath is holding together. Resist neat resolution - leave the moment live and unresolved when nothing earned release, but live is not frozen: never end on a static tableau. - One action/reaction/exchange resolved per turn, then stop (an 'exchange' is a real back-and-forth, not a single line). Never open by restating {{user}}'s last line. [ON THE PAGE] Every directive in this preset is an instruction to YOU, never vocabulary for the story. NAME THE TECHNIQUE and you have failed - render the behavior instead. The ban is on craft-talk (a word used as a LABEL for what the prose is doing), NOT on a word's ordinary literal meaning in the story. So the following must NEVER appear AS TECHNIQUE LABELS: 'beat', 'choice point', 'subtext', 'the unsaid', 'dramatic irony', 'the lots', 'pressure'/'cost'/'omen' (as bookkeeping), 'scar' (as a craft term for a proven-wrong belief), 'arc', 'scribe', 'hand' (meaning the writer), 'yield' (as the turn-ending device), the clinician/ironist/elegist/miniaturist/brawler/fabulist (as authorial labels), camera/cinematic/narrative-distance/pacing (as craft terms), climate/weather (as a stated metaphor for mood), the genre or its tropes by name ('in true noir fashion', 'the classic locked-room', 'like a horror movie'). But these SAME words are fine in their plain literal sense - an actual scar on skin, a hand on a door, crossing a threshold, an instinct to run, the arc of a thrown blade, an omen a superstitious character truly fears: write those freely; only the meta-label is forbidden ('the wrong impulse rose first', 'a held silence', 'her instinct was X but she chose Y' are stage-direction and OUT). Never narrate a directive, relationship guardrail, or lock as a rule ('their bond was locked', 'the guardrail'); never narrate how a character works, that the turn is ending, or what genre/technique you're performing.

How to use this
Token-lean, fully block-controllable literary-RP preset for the VELLUM Engine. Emits a validated <vellum> JSON state block the engine folds into an event-log chronicle. Powerful model-agnostic jailbreak, living-world simulation, sovereign NPC engine, rigorous prose + knowledge discipline, Era/Idiom and Tonal Cast prose dials, tiered NSFW/NSFL, the Visual Toolkit (diegetic HTML), and the variance suite: the Cartographer (world genesis + ambient breath), the Augury (dice-seeded scene entropy), Marginalia (anti-mode-collapse anchors), named-violation anti-slop, the Palimpsest (belief-scar memory), the Codex (provisional canon), per-model errata, and an optional emotional save. Block-based for maximum control: every directive its own toggle, with Prompt Variables and radio/checkbox groups.

Strengthened the Colored Dialogue regex, replaced the default state block regex with a matching one, added reverie and state block regexes for Gatsby and Sumi themes.
Added 2 new regexes to match the new theme - reverie and state block display (graphite)
Added 8 new genres - drama, tragedy, noir, coming-of-age, political, western, wuxia, xianxia
Added 8 new genres: Drama, Tragedy, Noir, Coming-of-Age, Political, Western, Wuxia, Xianxia; 2) Added new VTK templates; 3) Anti-Slop is now switchable with a master on/off switch and a checklist of all 11 cliché types — untick any you don't want it to police; 4) Added a craft-floor strictness dial; 5) Added two character-voice toggles; 5) A brand-new "Prose Fine-Tuning" with six dials: Figurative Density, Diction, Sensory Bias, Filter Words, Paragraph Shape, Profanity; 6) Added a new block - CRAFT ANCHOR - to anchor the prose variables chosen. This helps with drifting variables/dials over a long chat.
